May '12 Bid's Nuts and Bolts

Good day reader, I trust you are bidding right now or finishing up. So am I. Hopefully you find yourself at a domicile you like with the seniority you want. But, if you are at the domicile you want and have the seniority you want, you probably wouldn't be stopping by my blog. Then again, you may be policing content. I don't think I'm going to go all... Blue... any time soon, so no reason to worry.

For COS, April was a slow month. I just looked at the reserve list today and there's a whole lot of reserves not flying right now. I think that will drastically change come May. Especially towards the end of May into June. There will be flying. Lots of flying.

Here's what we've got in May.
Remember last month? Well, that was an 'A' month. We are giving 'B' a miss and going direct to 'C' in May. I imagine that we'll have a 'D' month come June and July. Summer is upon us, though you wouldn't know that by the snow on the ground here in COS today. We will probably get one more snow before Summer but we're almost there! And my baby son is almost here too. I have 15 more days to go (according to the due date). So, one more blog post prior to little-man's arrival.

With that, and continuing from last month, I have FMLA. It extends until May 10th. So that really effects how I bid. Last month, I was awarded all of my first layer. It was the first time that has ever happened. I had bid very liberally in my first layer last month too, and I am going to slack off a little this month and bid more conservatively. Last month, I hadn't figured that the credit assigned to the FMLA would be included into the overall total credit I'd be awarded with my FMLA. Even though I want to be awarded efficient trips, I want to maintain some normalcy so the last of the layers I have Sunday bid off. So, I'll settle for the most efficient trips over the weekend on my first layers and if I can't hold those, I'll settle for lesser-efficient trips on the weekdays. See you on the 18th or 19th!
